Good Care Giving Requires Positive Energy
A chronic pain patient, or any person in pain or who has an illness, does not need an angry, frustrated or critical caregiver. Therefore, it is necessary for both ourselves as well as the person we care for, that we find a way to keep our own positive balance.
We must treat ourselves as well as we treat the recipient of our care. We must take the time to take walks, swim, or go to the gym. We need to take vitamins or our personal medications so we remain healthy. We should take time to read, go to a movie, or spend time with our friends. We need to stoke our own energy sources. At 3:00 a.m. when our partner or friend needs help, we want to be able to help them with a sincere smile and caring hand.
